About the Currency

The złoty has been around since the Middle Ages, however, it has since gone through many changes, often being replaced by other currencies, such as the ruble from 1814 to 1917. After Poland joined the EU in 2004, the country has been somewhat obliged to try to adopt the Euro as their currency, however, it does not currently meet the stability requirements to do so quite yet.

The Polish złoty comes in 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200zł banknotes with coins including 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50gr, as well as 1, 2, and 5zł.
