About the Currency

'Baht' has been around for quite some time, however, up until 1897, it was only a unit a weight rather than actual physical currency. It was Prince Jayanta who actually came up with the decimal currency system where 1 baht was worth 100 satang.

Thai Baht exists as 20, 50, 100, 500, and ฿1000 baht banknotes. It is also available in 25 and 50 satang, as well as 1, 2, 5, and ฿10 baht coins. Whilst no longer really used, there are also 1, 5, and 10 satang coins.
